SOB shows the softer side of Yannick's favorite red grape, Tannat, and its amazing potential as a blending variety. Deep black cherry color. Bright, complex, generous and profound with notes of baked blackberry pie, dry sage, white pepper, licorice, medium roast coffee, forest floor and subtle French oak. Supple attack, delicate roundness, full-bodied, offering sweet spices, pure dark berries, silky tannins and fresh long finish. It's an unmistakable California resident, rich, juicy, and a youthful vibe, but this one doesn't forget its French heritage... Aged for 18 months in 25% new and 75% neutral French oak barrels. | Y. Yannick Rousseau takes his deep connection to his heritage in the Gascony region of Southwest France and honors it with his artisan approach to winemaking in California. Each wine, from his dry and crisp Colombard to his award winning Tannats has a uniquely soulful expression of place and craft. The Son of a Butcher red blend, a nod to his his father and grandfather who were artisan butchers, comes in with a dark core and saturated color that gives way to crunchy and bright red fruits, loads of ripe berries and plums. There's a playful nature to the mid-palate - a whiff of woodsmoke - that moves toward funk and fusion on the finish. Beefy, grippy, and full with tannin. | Falling Bright
