2021 Hourglass Blueline Estate Cabernet Sauvignon | Calistoga, Napa Valley California 750ml 80% Cabernet Sauvignon 10% Petit Verdot 7% Malbec 3%Cabernet Franc
The magic of Blueline Estate continues to wow us with the estates' signature wine. The 2021 walks the perfect balance of elegance, brightness, and power...Aromatics of ground coffee, wet gravel, forest ferns and barrel toast cascade with nuanced precision, winding through dramatic red and dark fruit tones. Dark sour cherry, red plum, pomegranate and blackberry translate powerfully from nose to palate. Rich silky tannins are countered with a tensional energy of mouthwatering natural acidity and the trademark Blueline minerality. The estate's name is derived from the two "blueline streams" that deposited its soils over millions of years and form the DNA of the vineyard's unique personality. Blueline Estate's gravelly Cortina soils provide excellent drainage, yielding smaller berries with greater concentration. Hallmark characteristics: A tensional yin/yang of vibrancy counterpointing richness - blackberry bramble, cassis, and a polished texture are energized by crushed-stone minerality. | Hourglass
The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Blueline Estate is a mostly co-fermented mix of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Petit Verdot, 7% Malbec, and the rest Cabernet Franc. Blackcurrants, bright black cherries, violets, and bouquet garni, as well as beautifully integrated oak, all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, elegant, yet concentrated style. It shows the denser, concentrated style of the vintage, yet it also holds onto a beautiful sense of finesse and elegance. There are 850 cases of this beauty, which is going to benefit from 2-3 years of bottle age and evolve for 20-25 years. | 96+ points, Jeb Dunnuck for jebdunnuck.com
