Though there is not a lot of it, the 2020 Ode to Lulu is one of our favorite renditions to date. Due to historically light crops in Contra Costa County, where the backbone of the old vine Mataro for this wine grows, there is an added level of concentration and density of fruit (surprising, given how pale this wine is). The 2020 also features a higher percentage of Mataro than normal, close to 85%, as our normal source of Mendocino Grenache was not picked due to wildfire activity. As always, we aim for a blance between ethereal lightness combined with straight-up delicious fruit and feel we have succeeded with this wine.
