2019 Andremily Wines Mourvèdre | Ventura California 750ml
Few out there do this variety better than Jim Binns, and the 2019 Mourvedre is stunning stuff, offering classic smoked meats, iron, ground pepper, kirsch, and darker fruits. I love its tannins, it's full-bodied, and has richness with no sensation of weight or heaviness, followed by a great finish. The blend is 81% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah, and 1% Viognier that saw lots of stems (75%) and will spend 21 months in 50% new wood. | 96-98 points, Jeb Dunnuck for jebdunnuck.com
...a mouth wateringly delicious elixir comprised of 81% Mourvedre, 18% Syrah, and topped off with 1% Viognier. The 2019 leaps from the glass offering a heady bouquet of smoked meats, ground pepper, boysenberry, blackberries, espresso, and plenty of Mourvedre funk. With a rich full texture, ripe tannins, and a lingering finish that goes on for more than a minute, this is one sexy Mourvedre. If you have not tried these wines yet we absolutely encourage you to do so... | Andremily
I've said it before, and I'll say it again: With the possible exception of Beaucastel (notably, their Hommage a Jacques Perrin label), there is likely no one in the world producing greater Mourvedre than Jim. It is a variety he has mastered as no other. For anyone who thinks they don't like Mourvedre but is otherwise a fan of big, rich, decadent Rhone blockbusters, I urge you to try Jim's astonishingly gorgeous take on this notoriously fussy grape. | Lisa Perrotti-Brown for Wine Advocate
