Winemaker Derek Beitler sources 100% Petit Verdot from the Cerrito Vineyard in the Rutherford AVA and from the Oak Knoll District also of Napa Valley. A dark inkwell of color opens up into a nose of espresso and dried violets and continues to the palate with deep grooves of black and blue impressions including black raspberry, ripe plum, and warm pie fruits. Complexity intensifies in a full mid palate with a spice profile reminiscent of Mexican hot cocoa - cinnamon, cayenne, and cardamom. The finish lingers. 515 cases produced. | Falling Bright
Mourvedre has many names around the world. In Spain it is called Monastrell, in Australia it goes by Mataro, and in France and America it goes by Mourvedre. This varietal is known for its meaty, earthy, and rustic qualities and is commonly used as a blending component in wines. More recently, winemakers are bottling it as its own variety to showcase its unique characteristics. Only 800 acres exist in California of which Skinner has about 3 acres planted on its two estate vineyards. | Skinner Winery
70% Petite Sirah and 30% Zinfandel. Tobacco, pie crust, and a very slight fruit roll-up character. Nice depth and richness.
