Supple, perfumed and remarkable; just a few of the words that come to mind when we think about the 2018 Grenache. Hailing from The Third Twin Vineyard, aging took place in an assortment of barrel and puncheon, 41% of them new, for 20 months. We imparted 45% whole cluster to lift aromatics and boost mid-palate structure. We co-fermented with 11% Mourvedre (The Third Twin Vineyard) and blended in 11% Syrah (Sebastiano Vineyard) + 3% Roussanne prior to bottling. This vixen was never racked off the lees during elevage. The dark, garnet appearance stimulates salivary glands and establishes expectations about what follows next. The best word we can think of to describe this Grenache is deceptive. DECEPTIVE. Because despite the obvious scale and physical prowess, there is this glorious sense of weightlessness that gets us to the bottom of the bottle wondering where it all went...leaving us wanting more...
