The Pisoni Family has made their mark on California viticulture with over three generations of farming world-class sites in the Santa Lucia Highlands. The Lucia Wines are made alongside the wines of the Pisoni Estate with the same commitment to excellence. The Soberanes Vineyard is the latest joint venture between the Pisoni and Franscioni families. Situated on the Santa Lucia Highlands Bench adjacent to the Garys' Vineyard and recently named "one of the appellation's most esteemed properties" by the Wine Enthusiast, the site features tightly spaced vines and is planted to 33 acres of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Syrah. The clonal material planted in the loamy, rocky soil is very diverse and features over a dozen of the most renowned heritage selections from California and Burgundy.The distinctly rocky soils of this classic Santa Lucia Highlands vineyard shine again; this time in the form of the 2021 Lucia Soberanes Vineyard Chardonnay. Packed within a pale lemon hue and tinges of youthful green, this wine offers brazen aromas of lime zest, crisp pear, and stone fruits up front while undertones of marzipan and chalky minerals develop as moments pass. On the palate, this Chardonnay is driven by striking notes of lemon meringue, red apple, and a hint of toasted vanilla bean. Enjoy over time as subtleties gain depth and power.
