The wine presents a dark, polished amethyst with aromatic notes of white pepper, tobacco, and black currant emerging from the glass. A silky mouthfeel with a palate of dark plums, black raspberry, and hints of French vanilla closes with subtle tart black cherry and a lengthy, structural finish. | Winemakers Notes
Geographic diversity is what Locations CA is all about. Provided with a wide assortment of microclimates and soil profiles to exploit, it can be a winemaker's dream. With a goal in mind to create a blend that showcases the best of the Golden State, we navigated the famed appellations of Napa, Sonoma, Mendocino, and the Sierra Foothills for prized fruit. Once secured, we were able to apply some creativity to the blending components to ultimately settle on a wine worthy of Locations. | Locations Wines
A harmonious blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Grenache, Luli Rose presents itself with a beautiful pale apricot color. The cool, foggy days of the Santa Lucia Highlands and Arroyo Seco appellations are expressed through fresh aromatics of candied watermelon, white peach, and crushed strawberry. Lively citrus and red berry flavors are enhanced by crisp, focused acidity, leading to a refreshingly dry finish. 726 cases produced by winemaker Jeff Pisoni | Luli Wines
100% Grenache from the South of France sourced from vineyard blocks that cling to granite and schist slopes; these 50-year-old dry farmed vines produce very low yields of perfectly concentrated fruit. We are continually striving to maintain traditions while using our personal experiences to improve our craft each vintage. Fermented at very cool temperatures in stainless steel tanks; this wine displays both a delicacy and vibrancy characteristic to the maritime influences of the Mediterranean Sea. In the glass, an appearance of Himalayan salt opens with a nose of gardenias and early harvested stone fruit. A fresh entry leads to a honeysuckle mousse with hints of peaches and cantaloupe encompassing a dry minerality. The finish is memorable with a slight brininess reminiscent of the Himalayan sea salt hue. | Winemakers Notes
The Mutt was inspired by Maya and Sophie, our beloved rescue dogs. The Mutt like Maya and Sophie, is playful, unique and interesting. The grapes used are the "seconds" - what we don't use in our premium wines, we salvage and use in The Mutt. Maya and Sophie aren't shy about their pedigrees, and we're not shy about using "seconds", either, because they make a wine made from premium grapes very affordable and tasty too. So come take a walk on the wild side - this Merlotful red blend will have you running through the vineyards, leaping for joy! This Napa Valley Red Blend exemplifies the big 2015 concentration. The aromas are rich and inviting with juicy blackberry, violet, and anise lending layered complexity. The mid-palate is full and plummy with a touch of toasted oak. This structured yet smooth wine finishes with hints of cola and vanilla. | Hoopla
SOB shows the softer side of Yannick's favorite red grape - Tannat - and its amazing potential as a blending variety. The deep, dark, spicy bouquet revolves around blackberries, white pepper, plums, violets, dry leaves with notes of licorice and roasted coffee. Supple and full-bodied, it's an unmistakable California resident, rich and with youthful vibe, but the one who doesn't forget its French heritage. Aged for 18 months in 15% new and 85% neutral French oak barrels. | Y. Rousseau WinesYannick Rousseau takes his deep connection to his heritage in the Gascony region of Southwest France and honors it with his artisan approach to winemaking in California. Each wine, from his dry and crisp Colombard to his award winning Tannats has a uniquely soulful expression of place and craft. The Son of a Butcher red blend, a nod to his his father and grandfather who were artisan butchers, comes in with a dark core and saturated color that gives way to crunchy and bright red fruits, loads of ripe berries and plums. There's a playful nature to the mid-palate - a whiff of woodsmoke - that moves toward funk and fusion on the finish. Beefy, grippy, and full with tannin. | Falling Bright
Winemaker Jayson Woodbridge applies his artisan micro fermentation approach to individual lots from three distinct vineyard sites, Rogers Creek on the Sonoma Coast, Alta Loma in Monterey County, and Los Alamos of Santa Barbara County. Each lot develops complexity in the aromatic and flavor components of the wine adding to the final blend. | Cherry Pie Wines
Vibrant aromas and flavors of fresh watermelon, strawberries and roses. Zesty and lively on the palate this 2019 has more acid than the delicious 2018 and is a little lighter on its feet. Pair with sunshine, big laughs and raw pacific oysters with a jalapeno granite. | Pax Mahle Wines
Composed of 55% old vine Mataro [Mourvedré] and 45% old vine Grenache, Ode to Lulu is our love letter to the Bandol rosé we love so much. The Mataro is sourced from the sandy soils and own-rooted vines of Oakley along with a dash of 1920s-planted fruit from the famed Pagani Ranch. The deliciously feral and wild Mataro element is enlivened by Grenache planted in the 1880s at Gibson Ranch in Mendocino's McDowell Valley. From a color perspective, this is the palest rendition of this wine we have made in a while, something that belies its richness and density. The 2018 rendition might be my favorite of the 11 vintages we have made. | Morgan Twain Peterson for Bedrock Wine Co.

Bright, crunchy, lively and tart. Cherry blossoms and Enokitake ruffle the edges of the bouquet with a centerpiece of delicate plum that continues to the palate with flavors of tangy-sweet Santa Rosa plum and Queen Anne cherry finishing on a retro note of rosewood. | Falling Bright

A perennial favorite at Halter Ranch, Synthesis is our Cabernet Sauvignon based blend that continues to over deliver in deliciosity...aromas of both red and black fruits and cassis, followed by flavors of black cherry and plums. Smooth and approachable, this wine is great on its own, but also pairs with virtually everything. | Halter Ranch Vineyards
The 2017 Chardonnay The Estate Vineyard is fabulous and also one of the very finest values in California wine. In 2017, I am especially impressed by the wine's energy and tension, both of which are remarkable given the hot, dry conditions that marked so much of the year. Dried apricot, flowers and mint are all nicely delineated in this vibrant, super-expressive Chardonnay from Hansel. | 93 points, Antonio Galloni for VinousAll of our wines are Estate grown but this selection benefits from all of our vineyard sites; it does, however, consist of a high percentage of the original plantings from 1976 and 1989. Large berries and clusters contribute to its great acidity and depth. | Walter Hansel WineryAntonio Galloni calls Walter Hansel "some of the most consumer friendly wines readers will come across ANYWHERE in California", and we can't agree more. When tasting this wine blind, I almost always place a higher value on it and then get a pleasant surprise at the true price. | Falling Bright
Our dry Grenache Ros is certainly a treat for Spring and Summer. Fermented in stainless steel tanks to preserve the delightful bouquet. The Grenache was left on the skins for three days giving way to beautiful rich strawberry and watermelon rind flavors balanced with crisp acidity. Pairs amazing with creamy, fatty cheeses, Asian fare, or just sitting in the sunshine. Enjoy now until 2022. | Turtle Rock Vineyards

Planted in 1944 just north of the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas, this vineyard is exceptional. Dry farmed without chemicals at the base of Enlightenment Mountain in gravelly volcanic soils, we are amazed at the concentration and intensity in the fruit from these vines.Aromatic and intense with classic Chenin Blanc aromas of wet stones, crushed flowers, minerals, beeswax and white pepper. Bone-dry, incredibly fresh and loaded with mineral, this is a serious oyster wine. | Pax Mahle Wines
Bursting aromatics of honeydew, honeysuckle and ripe peach are complemented by a hint of jasmine, pineapple and cream. With lots of weight and viscosity, the full-bodied palate brims with ripe stone fruit, wet stone and a touch of sweet Meyer lemon. The fleshy, golden mid-palate evolves into a pointed, textured finish that closes with lots of minerality. Aged in 40% new French oak sur lie for 9 months. | Orin Swift Cellars
Delicate pale peony pink, the first rosé of Pinot Noir for Ferren Wines by winemaker Matt Courtney is showing a bouquet that is crisp and restrained. Minerals are more prevalent than fruits in both bouquet and palate. The acidity is quenching showing the proximity to the Sonoma Coast in true form. | Falling Bright
Antonio Galloni calls Walter Hansel "some of the most consumer friendly wines readers will come across ANYWHERE in California", and we can't agree more. When tasting this wine blind, I almost always place a higher value on it and then get a pleasant surprise at the true price. But numbers aside, the Cahill Lane shows all of the richness of Russian River Valley Chardonnay through a pure and simple use of the Wente Clone exclusively on this site. Brioche, buttered and topped with a dollop of apricot preserves, comes to mind. | Falling Bright
Lovely aromatic notes of pomegranate, red plum, black pepper and sweet baking spice are interlaced with a fine tannin structure and flavors of dark berry, toast and vanilla. Vineyard sources: DuBrul, Elerding, Outlook, Red Willow, Union Gap | Owen RoeHeavy, rich notes of black plum, chocolate and mint ooze from the glass with notes of java and vanilla. The palate backs up the nose in rich extracted tarry black fruit, lavender, and camphor. Beautiful texture. | David O'Reilly for Doug Wilder's Purely Domestic Wine Report, 92 points
100% estate grown Chardonnay from the Trump Winery where the Monticello AVA vineyards neighbor the historic home of Thomas Jefferson. Crafted in the traditional Methode Champenoise style and aged 36 months on the lees bringing class and finesse to domestic sparkling wine.
A pretty and floral bouquet very reminiscent of spring blossoms. White nectarine, barely ripe yellow peach, soft mint, chammomile flowers, and white tea leaves. The finish is racy with stony minerality and mouthwatering acidity. | Falling BrightWinemaker and proprietor Enrico Bertoz brings together the "Holy Trinity" of Italian White grape varietals in his blend of 55% Malvasia Bianca, 25% Ribolla Gialla and 20% Tocai Friulano for the 2018 vintage.

A vineyard which clings to the steep west-facing slopes of the Rogue River produces the combination of Muscat, Riesling, and Viognier which blend seamlessly to create Tail Feathers, a complex, dry, crisp white wine. The aromas offer notes of white peach, lemon zest, and a touch of kiwi, along with a faint note of almond. The palate shows tropical flavors combined with lime zest, fresh parsley and citrus blossom. Texturally the wine is light-bodied and dry, with just enough acidity to add freshness, and a clean, lifted finish that offers a sense of grace and elegance. | Winemaker, Celia Welch
Following our purchase of the vineyard in the spring, 2017 was the first year we had full control over farming at Evangelho. This wine, though possessing the characteristic suaveness of the site, does possess a trace more density than years past - likely due to the additional thinning passes we made. It was also an exceptional year for Mataro in a generally very strong year at the site, and the variety makes up over 30% of the blend. As such, this has some wonderful savory aromatics that balance and complicate the courtly fruit - upon opening a bottle of 2015 recently, I was struck by an exotic curry powder / garam masala note starting to come forth. Aged predominately in 600 gallon foudre and large format barrels, this wine saw very little new oak as we wanted the delicate complexities of the site to show. Drink 2019-2030+. | Morgan Twain Peterson for Bedrock Wine Co.Distinctive, showing briary complexity, with deep and expressive smoky anise, black cherry, black olive and green peppercorn flavors that build toward refined tannins. | 94 points, Wine Spectator
Winemaker Derek Beitler sources 100% Petit Verdot from the Cerrito Vineyard in the Rutherford AVA and from the Oak Knoll District also of Napa Valley. With yet another nearly-perfect 2015 growing season in Napa Valley, vintners celebrated abundant yields and a third-straight vintage of world-class quality....Half of the fruit for this vintage was sourced from the namesake Cerrito Block, a meter-by-meter vineyard planted along the eastern edge of Rutherford AVA, with the balance coming from another vineyard eight miles south, in the Oak Knoll District. Dark crimson to black in color, the nose presents classic varietal aromas of licorice, dried flowers, and leather. We employ a modest but lengthy oak regime of 40% new French barrels of 30 months complimenting the nuanced red fruit flavors. 515 cases produced | JDB WinesA dark inkwell of color opens up into a nose of espresso and dried violets and continues to the palate with deep grooves of black and blue impressions including black raspberry, ripe plum, and warm pie fruits. Complexity intensifies in a full mid palate with a spice profile reminiscent of Mexican hot cocoa - cinnamon, cayenne, and cardamom. The finish lingers. | Falling Bright
Barrel Fermented. Mouthwatering and luscious, with intoxicating aromatics of melon, nectarines, white peaches and honeysuckle. The unique mix of oak barrels and native yeast add to the richness and complexity of this wine at the same time lifting the purity of the fruit and brightness of the wine. Tangerine, creme brulee and hints of ripe kiwi come together with a long bright finish. | The Setting
