Description

2016 Kosta Browne One Sixteen Chardonnay | Russian River Valley Sonoma California 750ml

Bottled in December and sourced from sites mostly in the Russian River (there's a small amount of Sonoma Coast in here), the 2016 Chardonnay One Sixteen is the larger production cuvée of the estate and could be thought of as the flagship Chardonnay. It reveals the fresher, crisper style of all the wines from Kosta Browne today and has lively notes of green citrus, stone fruits, toasted almonds, and white flowers. Steely and vibrant today, with beautiful purity, it's going to flesh out nicely with a year in bottle and keep for 6-7 years. | 93 points, Jeb Dunnuck for jebdunnuck.com

Meyer lemon with hints of honeycomb and orange blossom. Oyster shell, wet stone with a kiss of struck flint. Rich with acidity and elegance. Textural with an everlasting finish. |
Kosta Browne

The Russian River Valley of Sonoma County California is home to more soil types than are found in the entire Burgundy region of France. When that type of soil diversity joins with a complement of unique clones, amazing Chardonnay is born. In the 2016 vintage of One Sixteen, vineyard sources across the Russian River Valley AVA including, Charles Ranch, El Diablo, Keefer Ranch, Heintz, Laguna Valdez, Ritchie, Rued, and Martinelli Family's Zio Tony. Clones found in these vineyard sites include Wente, Calera, 95, 548, Robert Young, Montrachet, & Batto. 100% native yeast fermentation with 82% in French oak barrel, 12% in Foudre and 6% in concrete has yielded a wine with intense aromatics, full flavors, and a striking balance of acidity and tannin in the structure. While Kosta Browne is most well known for their Pinot Noir, this is a Chardonnay show stopper. | Falling Bright
